i have been naive. I thought that leaving a week to book my train tickets would be enough but apparently the train is fully booked for Adelaide. That means i have to sort everything out from scratch. However I'm not staying in Sydney for another 2 weeks SO Ive decided to take a coach directly to Melbourne. Cost $70 but i would of had to pay that as surplus fuel charge for the all the trains anyway. Also the coaches leave more frequently. Will leave some time before Monday and then stay in Melbourne till my tour. I cant book the tour until i book my coach tickets so i hope they are not fully booked aswell. Im not too bothered its just annoying that i paid for train tickets and more often than not the train is booked. I suppose i should book for Darwin a month in advance just to garantee me a window seat.
Got my haircut today. Nice and short. I like my hair when its short, but then i get bored of it and wish it to be long again. Then when its long its pisses me off and i cut it off, again. Its a vicious cycle. I forgot what the shape of my head was like. The haircutter was really good. He went sweeny todd on me. Not saying he slit my throat, but he was super quick and the cut was really good. Literally was in there for like 3 minutes. He gave me a card and told me after 5 cuts you get the 6th 25% off. It reminded me of Caffe Nero where you get the 5th coffe free. I think i still have that card somewhere. I hope they still accept them for when i get back to London...

Day 28
I hate doing things. I had to book my train tickets. Didn't want to pick up the phone because i knew that when i put it down i would be $450 cheaper. Booked my 3 month unlimited travel. Because its only 3 months I'm gonna do Alice springs and Darwin (maybe Perth) before i do the east coast. The train doesn't take the east coast so it looks like I'm taking a coach. I'm trying to organise my trip. I have to go to Adelaide so i can get the train to Melbourne so that i can take the tour back to Adelaide. It seems long winded. It is. The trains leave once a week at different times. Ive basically missed the the train to Adelaide because it leave on a Wednesday. Have to wait till next week. I'm now leaving the 7th of December. The train takes a day to get to Adelaide where the train to Melbourne leaves the next day. So i have to book a hostel for a night. Then when i get to Melbourne i have to wait 2 days for the tour. The tour finishes in Adelaide an hour after the last train back to Sydney so i have to stay in Adelaide for a week. Anyway Ive sorted it all out, but chances are things are not going to go to plan. Just need to make it back before New years.
So I'm stuck in Sydney another week. Might stay in a hostel for a few days. Meet some new people. I suppose its my own fault for not wanting to book sooner. Live and learn i guess...

Day 27
Once again home alone. Get bored during the day. Turn the radio up full blast. Talk to the dog. Watch TV on my laptop. I haven't got much to get sorted anymore. Planning to leave Thursday to Melbourne. Have to book train tickets. The single ticket cost too much and as i am eventually heading to Alice springs and Darwin i think i will buy the unlimited rail card. Its $450 but in the long run its much cheaper. I'm looking forward to The Ghan. Its the train that goes from Adelaide to Darwin. Its 2 nights but its supposed to be an incredible journey.
Went into the garden to play some basket ball. Noticed that they had one of those planes that writes in the sky. They were not very good at whatever they were trying to write. It looked like Bocomsy4? or booomsy? i don't know. I'm hoping that wasn't a name because it would be shit name.

Day 26
went bowling with Jamie, Sheree and some of her Friends. I didn't suck as much as usual. Played pool which i did suck at. Also played air hockey which i tied on. There was a kids party at the bowling place. They kept screaming and running around. I thought it would be funny to try and knock one of them down with a bowling ball but i think that would be frowned upon. Sheree's friends said she could get me a job on computers typing and sending stuff. It pays pretty well. $15 an hour i think. It may have been $25. I'm thinking of traveling to Alice springs and Darwin and then asking about the job when i get back. We will see how it goes. I could get a job in Melbourne or Adelaide. I don't like organising every single aspect of my gap year. I think its better to just wing it. The good stories usually come from the unplanned things...
Day 25
the sun was out today. Made a change. Went out grocery shopping. Bought an energy drink which claimed to have more energy than 4 red bulls. Played basketball. Used the home gym system that Jamie has. It looks like a death machine. Made myself a smoothie. Banana and peanut butter. Played Call of Duty. Went to bed. I know its not very exciting but I'm not bothered to do anything until i leave for Melbourne a few days...

Day 24
Thought i would make my Mums potatoes salad. I don't normally like salad but i love that one. Went out and bought all the ingredients. It was raining again. I hate this weather. Came back and made it. It tasted really good. I was surprised because i couldn't actually remember what to put in it. Just guessed most of it. Tasted just like my Mums so I'm happy. I had like 3 servings. We had felafel's with it. I don't get felafel's. I'm not sure what there angle is. Are they trying to be a meatball? because they look like a meatball. They taste awful tho. Are they meant to be a vegetarian alternative to meatballs? Because i don't know why vegetarians try and simulate meat. Either eat meat or stick to a fucking carrot...
I just remembered that episode of Friends where Rachel's sister comes to visit and she think Ross is the falafel guy. "No more falafel for you!" HA HA!

Day 23
Went into Sydney. Bought a backpack. $160 gone. This one is double the size of my current backpack. Can try it out when i head down to Melbourne December 1st. Will be my first time traveling out of Sydney by myself. Going to travel the Great ocean road from Melbourne to Adelaide then get a train back to Sydney in time for new years. Probably be back in time for Christmas, but you never know. Not really looking forward to traveling with a bunch of people i don't know. Not really optional tho. I'm looking up stuff to do in Melbourne and Adelaide. Melbourne apparently has a huge shopping district. Wont do me any good. Cant go spending money on unnecessary things. Food is priority. Ive been living on Hungry Jack's whenever i go into Sydney. Its basically Burger King just with a different name. There was a crazy homeless man in there today. I think he was staring at me, but he may of just had a stroke. I didn't bother to check. Just ate my burger and left. Ive also noticed a large amount of people with odd legs. Some Asian guy had one leg shorter than the other. He had to wear different hight shoes. Another guy had kinda bowed legs and he walked like one of those old Disney animations. You know the ones where they kinda bounce and sway with some shitty music in the background. Very creepy. I think he caught me staring, but whats he gonna do? chase me?...

Day 22
Overslept! my watch has been playing up for ages now. I woke up and thought its only 6am so i will go back to sleep. Woke up again at 10am and decided to get up. The morning is usually my favourite because its the evening in the UK and i can see what people are up to on Face book and Twitter. Its become like a morning ritual. Anyway i got up and it turned out it was 1pm and my watch was broken. I'm gonna stop wearing it and check the time on my iPod like normal people.
Rained all day again. Watched Entourage on my laptop, which I'm really getting into. Played COD when Jamie got back from school. That was about it. Tomorrow rain or shine I'm gonna get myself up early and head into Sydney. I need a few things for when i start traveling. A huge backpack and a sleeping bag. That's another $200. I'm gonna have to get a job when i get back from the gold coast, because if i don't i will be living in a run down hostel eating nutella out of a jar with a spoon for the remaining months. I don't even like nutella...

Day 21
Its been raining all day. I have no reason to go out, i have booked my travels, i have handed in CV's everywhere. I have nothing to do. Im trying to find work online but there aint much. With my lack of expereince it will be hard to get a job. I might leave earlier for the Gold coast than i had planned. Its about a week till December. I might travel to Melbourne and do the great ocean road to Adelaide and then come back in time for New Years. Its just boring sitting around with nothing to do...

East Coast Trip
Start Sydney. Coach to Newcastle, Port Macquaire, Coffs Harbour where i will be doing canoeing, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Noosa where i will be doing a 3day/2night canoe and bush camp, Hervey Bay where i will be doing a tour of Fraser island, Agnes Water where i will be dropped on a deserted island for a night with a group of people, Rockhampton, Mackay, Airlie Beach where i will be traveling on a boat around Whitsunday Island, Townsville, Finally Cairns where i will be doing skydiving and bungee jumping. Thats just the East coast! i still have stuff in Melbourne, Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin!!!
Day 20
Headed into Sydney today. Looked for work. They have job boards in the big hostels. All farming work and agricultural work. I don't mind trying it but most of them are way outside Sydney. Also you work for like 12 weeks at a time.
Gave up on job hunting after 3 hours. Was heading back to the train station and i thought id pick up some leaflets at a travel agency. I'm not sure what happened after i entered the door. It was a blur of handshakes, introductions and brochures and the next thing i know I'm sitting at a desk with an Irish guy showing me face book pictures from his working holiday. Tbh i just wanted to get out of there but apparently its not that easy to leave. He started setting up tours and travel and giving me quotes. After a while i got pulled into his sales pitch and started asking for things. I now have Bungee jumping, Day tours, 2 day tours, 3 day tours, coach trips, Snorkeling, Diving, A castaway experience, sailing, kayaking, sky diving, 23 days free accommodation along the east coast, free meals, free drinks and a 2 day surf camp, which is, and i quote, "full of fanny". Ah the charm of the Irish. I left £2000 poorer. i only wanted a fucking brochure...

Day 19
Looked for work today. Handed in about a dozen CV's. No one is looking at the moment. I thought close to Christmas everyone would be hiring. Not the case unfortunately. Local shopping centre ain't that big tho. I'm gonna head into Sydney tomorrow and look there.
Went for a run with Jamie. Kid is way too athletic. Gave up 1/4 of the way through his normal "jog". Think my cardio is getting better tho. Actually enjoyed running for once. Started to rain which was nice. Its been really hot. The weather has been really unpredictable.
Set up Xbox LIVE and started playing call of duty. Was considering buying MW3 or Skyrim but at $100 i think id rather eat for a month...

Day 18
did nothing today. Looked for work online and checked travel information etc... gonna get some travel brochures tomorrow so i can plan what i want to see when i travel. So far i wanna see Uluru in Alice Springs, the great barrier reef on the east coast, Darwin, Great ocean road in Melbourne. I need a job to pay for the travel costs only its not as easy as i thought it would be to get a job. I'm not leaving till the new years so i have time to get a job and some extra cash.
Went out food shopping at the local mega store. Everything is different here. They have a different character on the coco pops cereal box. This one doesn't look like a douche. Cant find Walkers crisps anywhere. Its just little things but you notice them after a while. The biggest difference is the red bull. they have 4 sizes! the smallest is the regular size in the UK. The largest one is a beast. I reckon one of those and id be dead...

Day 17
left for Sydney in the morning. still overcast. Took the train. they have double decker trains. its really cool. Checked out hostels in Sydney. They have some really good ones. They have one right by the major train station in Sydney. Its like the kings cross of Sydney. I know my way around Sydney like the back of my hand but i turned down some crappy ally and it just had homeless people. Normally Sydney looks really good but the more time i spend in it the more i think its just like a movie set where the building are just flat and behind them is just nothing.
Buying a train ticket to take me all around Australia. I cant stay in Sydney for 6 months. Even if i have no money left I'm not staying in one spot the whole time. First stop will be Adelaide in the new year. Haven't found anyone worth traveling with. Found some people on gumtree. They just seem really weird. Not sure if I'm gonna meet them in person. Would rather meet people at the hostel when i go and stay there for a few weeks. If worst comes to it, id rather travel by myself.

Day 16
Dad left at 1:00pm. Kinda strange being by myself in Australia. Decided not to think about it and went out for something to eat. It started raining. Pathetic fallacy. Walked around Sydney. My watch keeps playing up. Thought i was making good time, turned out my watch had stopped. Didn't really know what to do with myself for the rest of the day. Just sat on my computer reading manga and playing music. Packed up and left Mikes. Went to his sisters place to stay. Shes is really nice. They have a spare room. Its great to have privacy again. Also a big bed. Been sleeping on the floor for about 2 weeks. Slept like a baby...

Day 15 - Taronga Zoo
Last full day with my dad here. Tomorrow after 1:00pm i will be completely by myself.......alone......ah well life goes on. Anyway as it was his last day we decided to visit the zoo. Took the ferry. There was a family of aboriginals on it. Ive never seen a family of aboriginals before. It was very weird. They have a really strange language. Its strange to think that they were the native race in Australia. Ive been here two weeks and Ive only seen one aboriginal. He was playing a didgeridoo. Cant believe its only been two weeks. Done allot. Hard times ahead. Anyway i digress. Went to the zoo. Wanted to see Australian wildlife (that wasn't dead by the road) Kangaroo's are boring actually. They might as well be dead. They just sit around doing nothing.
